    Established in 1918, the Marquette County Historical Society provides an immaculate multi-story museum marking the founding of Marquette Country. The John M. Longyear Research Library is also housed in the facility. The museum is open daily year round. Admission is $3 for adults, $1 for students 13 & older, and FREE for children

    Visit the Lake Superior shoreline museum to learn of Marquette's rich maritime history. The facility is housed in the old Waterworkd building, listed among the National Register of Historic Places. Nautical books, works from local artists, miniature lighthouses, and christmas ornaments are just a few items available at the museum gift shop. The facility is open daily May through October. Nominal admission fee.

    Found just off U.S. Highway 41 resting on the hills overlooking Lake Michigamme, the museum marks over 125 years of local history through artifacts, memorabilia and antiques. Open daily May through September. Admission is free.

    Negaunee's rich history, as the place where iron ore was first dicovered in the Lake Superior region in 1844, is preserved in this four-story museum located near the heart of the central business district. Come to the place where early iron ore miners descended into underground mines tunneling below much of the city. The museum is open daily May 29 through Labor Day. Nominal admission fee.

    Here is the final repository for the historical records of Northern Michigan University and the central Upper Peninsula. The Archives seek to identify, collect, preserve, and encourage the use of records that tell the story of Michigan's north country. The center is open to the public daily Monday through Friday.     Ishpeming is the birthplace of organized skiing in the United States and thereby lays claim to having the national museum located within its borders. The National Ski Hall of Fame and Museum pays tribute to Olympic skiers and offers a historical perpective of the sport. The Natinal Ski Hall of Fame is the only national sports hall of fame in Michigan. It operates daily year round. Nominal admission fee.

    The DeVos Art Museum opened in February of 2005 after the completion of a new building designed by HGA Architcts. The Museum is part of the School of Art and Design at Northern Michigan University in Marquette and also serves as a regional art museum for the upper peninsula of Michigan . The rotating exhibition space features regional, national and international contemporary art, as well as student and faculty work. The permanent collection space is dedicated to exhibiting part of the permanent art collection on a revolving basis. The DeVos Art Museum also offers guided docent tours of exhibitions, workshops by visiting artists , and outreach programs bringing art into the public schools.

    The first Koeppe Hoist System in the United States. Enter the Historic Dry Building, View Mining Artifacts, Pictures and Mining Equipment from 1845 to the Present. Walk the grounds that the Iron Miners Walked, stand beside a 170 ton Iron Ore Truck with tires 12 feet high. Visit the Mineral Room Displaying over500 Mineral Specimens from the local area, the Upper Peninsula and the World. See local Historical Artifacts Representing the local Community During the Great Mining Area. Stand beside Head Frames that tower 97 to 174' High and which were uesd to lower miners 1250' into the Bewels of the Earth. Take a Guided tour of the tunnels that the Miners Walked and listen to the History of Mining from those that worked the mines. Also vist the Cliffs Shaft Mining Museum Gift Shop.  Open May through September Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10am to 4pm Nominal Museum Admission.

    In the forested ravines of the Marquette Iron Range , the Marquette Iron Industry Museum overlooks the Carp River and the site of the first Iron forge in the Lake Superior region. Museum exhibits, audiovisual programs and outdoor interpretive paths depict the largescale capital and human investment that made Michigan an industrial leader. Hands on exhibits, outdoor interpretive path, 18 minute slide show program "life on the Michigan Iron Rangers", and a Gift Counter. May through October 9:30am to 4:30pm daily. Admission is free.
